Patches

Girls can earn this patch individually or as a troop.  Learn about the real Alexander Hamilton, visit his estate at Hamilton Grange National Memorial in NYC, listen to the music from the play, see the musical live, or choose another way to find out more about this historic figure!

This challenge is based on the Rainbow Fairy book series.  Girls who participate in the challenge activities can earn the Scout Fairy fun patch.  Suggested challenges are included, but please feel free to adjust/adapt to better fit the needs of your group!  Girls do not need to do every activity to earn the fun patch; however, the activities are so much fun that they won’t want to do just one! ☺

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

Badge requirements

1. Research the life of a famous female golfer and share with your troop.
2. Learn the proper way to score. Define the terms ace (or hole in one), birdie, bogey, double bogey, Eagle, double Eagle, handicap, and par.
3. Visit a local mini golf course. Learn correct putting techniques and practice. Keep score.
4. Take a golf lesson from a professional. Learn and demonstrate how to properly swing a golf club.
5. Attend or watch a golf scramble or participate in a nine-hole game of golf.

A fun challenge to determine which “camp” you are in.  Tally up the total number of “camping” skills/tasks and the total number of “glamping” skills/tasks. Which do you have more of? That is your “CAMP!”

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

When heading out into the “real world,” there are many skills that teenagers and young adults need to be successful. Ask your scout(s) which of these skills they already know how to do and which they feel they need to learn. Are there any that they disagree with? Are there any that they feel should be added to the list?

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS

A summer challenge based on the "Judy Moody" book series. -

Leaders and parents can choose how many "thrill points" the girls need to earn.  You may choose to have the girls complete a certain number of tasks or earn a certain number of thrill points.  You may also choose to host a kickoff movie party, award each girl the fun patch, and then challenge your troop to see who can earn the most thrill points by your first meeting back in the fall.   Whatever you choose, your girls are sure to have a "Not Bummer Summer" by participating in this challenge!
